“Abandoned By Her Husband, This Single Mother Watches Her Little Girl’s Transplanted Kidneys Fail Again.”

“I am raising her alone. Her father walked away when she fell sick and has never looked back. He does not care what happens to her. It is only me by her side, fighting every day to keep her alive. She has never asked me for anything until now. But as she lies in bed, weak and frail, she turns to me and whispers – “When will I go back to school?” When she tells me that all she dreams of is spending just one day in school with her friends, my heart shatters.”– Bhuvaneswari, mother

Bhuvaneswari’s 9-year-old daughter has been battling chronic kidney disease with primary hyperoxaluria, a rare disorder where excess oxalate damages both kidneys and the liver for a few years now. In May 2025, she underwent a combined kidney and liver transplant. For a brief moment, there was hope – but soon infections and complications caused her transplanted kidneys to fail. Now she survives on dialysis five times a week. Her immunity is dangerously low, leaving her at constant risk of severe infections. Doctors say her only chance is another kidney transplant, but the cost is far beyond what her mother can manage.

‘She has not been to school in over three years now because of her suffering’

This brave little girl last attended school in 2023, when she was in Class 3. Since then, her condition worsened and she had to spend her days in hospitals instead of classrooms. She has gone through so much suffering, yet, her spirit shines through. She reads books every day, watches educational videos, and speaks fluent English. Anyone who meets her would never guess she hasn’t been to school in three years.

“She is so smart, so positive… she still believes she will go back to school one day. I only wish I could make that happen for her. She deserves a chance to live, to learn, and to be a child again” – Bhuvaneswari

‘I am a single mother with only my child to fight for...help me’

Bhuvaneswari’s world collapsed not just because of her daughter’s illness but also because her husband abandoned them. Though he was never very involved, he completely walked away when the child’s condition worsened in 2023. Today, Bhuvaneswari bears this burden alone. She lives with her daughter in a small rented house, paying ₹7,000 in rent each month. Her brother and a few relatives help when they can, but it is nowhere near enough to cover the massive costs of treatment. Each dialysis session costs ₹2,400, and with five sessions a week along with medicines and hospital visits, her monthly expenses climb to nearly ₹1 lakh.

“I feel like I have failed my child, but the truth is, I am the only one she has. I will never stop fighting for her. Please, help me give her another chance at life.” – Bhuvaneswari

This mother is desperate for support in her darkest hour. Your contribution can give her little girl a chance to survive and to finally return to the school life she dreams of.
